London Venues Perform at Island Gardens along the Thames River. Island Gardens is a Victorian-era park which sits directly on the Thames River across from Greenwich. Island Gardens is at the very tip of the Isle of Dogs (where Henry VIII ran his hunting dogs) and the East India and Canary Wharfs in the Olympic Borough of Tower Hamlets. Directly across the river, linked with our park by an footpath tunnel, lies Greenwich, home of all the Olympic equestrian events. The English town of Greenwich (part of London), boasts a fantastic market, the University of Greenwich, the Cutty Sark Tea Clipper sailing ship, the Queen's House, the National Maritime Museum, the Prime Meridian, and a special events tent with three major UK dance companies performing during the three weeks of the Olympics all within walking distance from Island Gardens Park. Page 12 Frequently Asked Questions:National Travel, our Air Travel partner, responds to your questions:Q. What about luggage restrictions and the best way to pack with costumes?A. On international flights you are permitted 1 free checked piece (not to exceed 50 lbs) and 1 free carry on (not to exceed 44 lbs and 45 linear inches). My suggestion is that costumes be packed in the checked bag, and personal clothing be packed in the carry on bag. Since you will be traveling in August, bulky heavy clothing will not be required. If you do wish to take an additional bag, the cost is $50.00 each direction, and again cannot exceed 50 lbs.Q. What if I want to travel within Europe prior or post of London?A. This would be an excellent opportunity to see more of Europe. National Travel would be more than happy to assist with additional travel arrangements. The air will work as a separate reservation outside the group, since you will be enhancing your visit. We will, however, match up the flights so you can travel with the group when it applies. Also, if you plan to travel on to Europe, keep in mind for inter-European flights, package restrictions will be different.Q. What about children traveling without their parents?A. For children who are traveling with adults who are not their parents (ages 12 and under), the parents must fill out an authorization form at the airport. For children ages 13-18 this is not required. We do strongly recommend that any child traveling without his or her parent have a notarized letter authorizing the adult with whom they are travelling to sign for any medical emergencies.Q. When should I purchase the cancellation insurance?A. The trip cancellation insurance should be purchased when your first payment is made either to Great Days or National Travel. The cost is $110.00 per person.Q. What is the air deposit amount?A. Since the Olympics is considered Special Event Travel, the airlines will be requiring 50 percent of the ticket for deposit. Mission

Who We Are WHO WE ARE - In Order of AppearanceMatthew Straub, ProducerMatthew provides the leadership and vision for our production series. He has produced series at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, and Olympic-related venues for over 20 years. As a professional musician for the Florida Symphony Orchestra and Walt Disney World, and the author of a textbook for performing artists (Mime: Basics for Beginners), Matt has experienced the performing arts as artist, educator, and producer. Mark Jacob, TreasurerCo-founder and Program Director of The Jacob School, a private school for creative, at-risk youth. Mark has an extensive background in planning and executing corporate expansion plans and has worked with both labor and management. He conceptualized and developed a value-based system used to motivate individuals to achieve their potential which was rated "Best Practice" by the State of Florida Bureau of Quality Assurance. His lifelong love is to work with youth, having successfully implemented urban programs in New York and Vermont and rustic programs in Texas and finally the ground breaking StoneSoup School in Florida. Mark's forte is the Visual Arts. He is conservateur of the $1.8M Jacob School Bequethment of Modern Russian Art and representative for the $14M Aranda Collection.Carrie Straub, DirectorCarrie is pursuing a PhD in Exceptional Education at the University of Central Florida. Carrie is interested in improving accessibility to the arts for all individuals and using program evaluation and research methods to identify evidence-based practices of fine arts instruction. Her costuming and theater performance background, coupled with her role as school director of Stonesoup School, and has informed Carrie's work at the intesection of education and the arts.Linda Apperson, Stage ManagerStage Manager for all AAPAE productions, Linda is currently Lecturer and Production Stage Manager for the Stanford University Department of Drama, Palo Alto, CA. She will be teaching a seminar in stage management at the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing this summer. She has stage managed more than 3,000 performances of musicals, dramas, and operas. Her experience spans both coasts, including Florida, New York City, and the San Francisco area. Her credits include a veritable catalog of the craft: Angels in America: The Millennium Approaches, The Elephant Man; Misalliance; Three Tall Women; 1776; Peter Pan; Into the Woods; The Wizard of Oz; Fiddler on the Roof; Twelfth Night; Merchant of Venice; Der Fliegende Hollander; Gianni Schicci, Pagliacci and Faust. Her daughter, Jessica, now a college student, is an invaluable assistant backstage and was the first AAPAE intern. Ms. Apperson is also the author of Stage Managing and Theatre Etiquette, published by Ivan R. Dee.Lucie Shannon, Office ManagerLucie is currently working to complete her B.A. and juggles that commitment with the responsibilities surrounding each AAPAE performance such as composing that production's Playbill, plus maintaining contacts with clients, vendors, accounts, press requests, and Kieffner Award applicants. Her Performance Day duties include intern supervision, dressing room supervision, plus stage left responsibilities during tech and the actual performance. She is passionate about animals and was previously the Educational Administrator for Distinctive Dogs Pet Grooming School in Las Vegas and has published a how-to book and study guide on pet grooming, which serves as the textbook for that school and others. Mission THE AAPAE MISSIONThe American Alliance of Performing Arts Educators (AAPAE), as a 501(c)3 nonprofit has as a mission to inspire individuals and strengthen performing arts organizations by creating access to iconic venues. AAPAE provides major performance opportunities for pre-professional performing arts talent to appear in supportive, noncompetitive and major venues. By combining the resources of talented and qualified performing groups, AAPAE is able to access venues of world stature for groups of moderate means. These performance opportunities often include Master Classes with professionals who are currently active in their fields. AAPAE addresses the situations common to all performing arts educators, whether they are independent or affiliated with an educational institution.AAPAE strives to educate performing groups on how to self-fund the opportunities presented them, allowing individual performing groups to become viable, independent businesses, whether profit or nonprofit. Performance

Immersive Theater Immersive theater is for today's audience - it allows people to experience theater in their own time and space. For immersive performances, we take over an existing location like an abandoned warehouse or an old mansion, and transform it into the world of the characters. Audience members move through the environment at their own time and space, creating their own adventure. Imagine passing under the balcony as Juliet calls to Romeo, playing croquet on the lawn in Wonderland with Alice and the Queen of Hearts, or lurking in a dark corner as Dracula stalks his next victim. Workshop Arts training is related to improved academic performance, like higher SAT scores and GPAs - but specialized training requires time. Busy youth have competing demands, but should experience arts enrichment. In response to this need, the educators at AAPAE have developed a 2-day immersive theater workshop, grounded in K-12 academic standards, culminating in casting and an innovative public performance. Performance The American Alliance of Performing Arts Educators presents a fully immersive performance (time and date to be annouced):With a Kiss, I Die An Adaptation of Romeo and JuiletThe performance will take place at an undisclosed Orlando location, transformed into the world of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Performers will interpret the tale of the star-crossed lovers in an interactive format, allowing audience members to become fully immersed into Shakespeare's famous tragedy. Audience members will be required to wear provided masquerade masks to maintain the authentic experience of immersive theater for the performers. Performance sites will be ADA compliant to ensure accessibilty. Join us for an incredible immersive performance followed by a Star-Crossed Lovers Champagne Diamond Drop - an opportunity to leave with a real diamond handed to you by fate.
